RAISING FUNDS FOR: Black Lives Matter Los Angeles
We are honored to announce that all proceeds will benefit Black Lives Matter Los Angeles (BLM-LA) and will be donated to www.gofundme.com/
We will have a very special guest, Sha Dixon of BLM-LA, sharing about the Black Lives Matter Movement.
#BlackLivesMatter was created in 2012 after Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted for his crime, and dead 17-year old Trayvon was post-humously placed on trial for his own murder. Rooted in the experiences of Black people in this country who actively resist our de-humanization, #BlackLivesMatter is a call to action and a response to the virulent anti-Black racism that permeates our society.Black Lives Matter is a unique contribution that goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes. An Acoustic Set by Midheaven’s Aerin Fogel
Aerin Fogel is a Toronto-based artist and astrologer, joined by a fluid and ever-changing group of musicians. Each show is a bridge between the musicians and the community, a gathering space that is specific to that moment in time. An experience of depth for melody lovers yearning for transformation. Raw, honest, poetry. Midheaven calls on a familiar sound and structure in order to point lyrically in a new direction, a new way of being, and restores the functions of healing and community-building to art. Songs to sing home the kingdom. Check Midheaven out at https://
Founded in July 2009, OUTspoken Sessions is an open mic and safe space for LGBTQ (and ally) folks. Originally an open mic for youth 19 and under, Equal Action saw a need for a safe multi-generational space – the space is still affirming of and respectful of youth and avoids tokenism.
Equal Action will be your hosts. We welcome all skill levels. There is no competition here. First timers welcome, you will be celebrated and always receive loving energy from your audience.
Arrive by 6:30pm to sign up for the open mic.
